With Liverpool’s 2026-27 Premier League set to kick off in a couple of days, we thought it might be a good time to look ahead to the coming season with predictions in mind. We suspect most Liverpool fans won’t be predicting a title run, but is top four a lock? And what about the top scorer for the Reds?
Looking around the league more broadly, can anyone give Erling Haaland a real challenge as top scorer overall? And are we expecting any of the newly promoted sides to survive?
Since SB Nation partners
with FanDuel, we decided to head over to check out the Premier League futures market ahead of the weekend and see how some of the betting lines lined up with our expectations, starting with the big one: who’s gonna win the Premier League.
It’s probably no surprise to anyone the current line has Arsenal at +105, which means if you place a $100 bet and Arsenal win you get $205 of which $100 is your original bet and $105 profit. Essentially doubling your money means that implied odds Arsenal will successfully defender their title are just a hair below 50%.
To us that feels both both right and also way too high. Realistically, we can’t see anyone close to The Gunners heading into the season. But that’s the position Liverpool were in last year and we all know how that ended. To us calling anyone other than prime Manchester City a coin flip to win the league feels like not fully accounting for the chaos and injuries and slog of a Premier League season.
Premier League Title Odds
- Arsenal +105
- Manchester City +290
- Liverpool +600
- Chelsea +800
- Manchester United +850
- Tottenham +3000
We’re equally uncomfortable with the idea Liverpool are currently third favourites, albeit distant third favourites, behind Arsenal and City at +600 meaning you’d get a $600 profit on a successful $100 bet—or $6 on $1 if you’re not in a big spending mood (don’t worry, we aren’t, either—but that’s how odds get written out).
The implied odds there are around 14%, or about one in seven, for Liverpool to surprise us all and win the Premier League and since just about everybody at the top end aside from Arsenal is heading into the season with plenty of question marks, I mean, why not I guess?
On the scoring front, Alexander Isak is the clear pick for the Reds at -280, which means you’d need to bet $280 to get back $100 in profit (returning $380 in total including your initial bet). We can’t argue with that given we think the only way Isak isn’t our top scorer is if he gets hurt again (try to stay fit, buddy).
Premier League Top Scorer Odds
- Haaland (Man City) -165
- Isak (Liverpool) +850
- Igor Thiago (Brentford) +1100
- Watkins (Aston Villa) +1600
- Joao Pedro (Chelsea) +1800
- Gyokeres (Arsenal) +2200
Perhaps more surprising, it’s Isak currently second to Halland for Premier League top scorer. There, you’re +850 on Isak (try to stay fit, buddy) so a $100 bid would win $850, while Haaland is favoured at -155. If we weren’t terrified about Isak staying fit, that would actually be pretty tempting.
On the relegation front, everyone seems to expect the newly promoted sides to drop straight back down, with Hull overwhelming favourites (unfavourites?) at -650 while Ipswich is -165 and people feel most bullish (at least relatively) about Coventry surviving at -145.
Sunderland are the established side most likely to drop at +320, meaning if you bet $100 and they don’t survive you win $320 and honestly that might be one of the futures market bets we like best heading into the 2026-27 season (sorry, Sunderland).
Premier League Relegation Odds
- Hull City -650
- Ipswich Town -165
- Coventry -145
- Sunderland +320
- Fulham +460
- Crystal Palace +500
We’re curious how do some of those numbers line up with your predictions, though. Are you feeling confident about Isak as the likeliest challenger to Haaland? Do you think Liverpool actually deserve to be third-favourites for the league ahead of Chelsea? Let us know what you’re thinking as we wait for the 2026-27 season to kick off on the weekend.
