As you can probably guess by now, the negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain for Randal Kolo Muani aren’t exactly something that we can categorize as something that is “happening quickly” or something that would be done in the next few days. But there’s also the simple fact that Juventus’ striker corps is going to be undergoing another summer of change — and especially at the No. 9 spot.
And that likely means that Juventus could do some more shopping besides Kolo Muani.
So who would that be?
According
to SportItalia’s Gianluigi Longari and Alfredo Pedulla, Juventus have checked in on Parma striker Mateo Pellegrino. Yes, that’s right — another conversation between Juventus and the club that comes from the world-famous region that gives us prosciutto. After already completing one transaction (for Giovanni Daffara) and talking about another involving a goalkeeper in his early-2os (Zion Suzuki), Juventus have also reached out to Parma to check in about the situation surrounding the 24-year-old Pellegrino, who is a Spanish-born Argentine and arrived in February of 2025.
There’s not much information in terms of how far Juve’s discussions actually went with Parma regarding Pellegrino, but it seems as though no actual negotiations have taken place as of now.
That, as we know, could very well change because it’s pretty easy to figure out that Juve will be signing at least one more striker besides the 19-year-old Jeff Ekhator, who joined the club at the beginning of the month. And depending on if there’s a market that develops for Jonathan David after his tough first season in Turin and equally unimpressive World Cup showing with Canada, Juventus could very well be looking to sign multiple strikers on top of Ekhator’s arrival.
Pellegrino is coming off a solid first full season in Serie A, scoring nine goals and added an assist in just under 3,000 minutes for a Parma squad that had an up-and-down season under first-year (and just-barely 30-year-old) manager Carlos Cuesta.
The big thing seems to be this: Is Pellegrino a potential option to go along with Kolo Muani, or is he an alternative pick up front if things don’t actually work out with negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain over the next few weeks? Pellegrino is an interesting name without a doubt, and there are some things to like about a big and mobile striker like he is at 6-foot-4.
As Pedulla says, Pellegrino “is appreciated” by Juventus. You can go ahead and try to figure out what that means.
