Kentucky running back Seth McGowan left Saturday’s 35-14 loss to No. 12 Georgia with a leg injury and did not return.
The senior tailback went down in the third quarter after an offensive lineman accidentally
rolled onto his leg during a rushing attempt. McGowan was helped to the sideline and later ruled out for the remainder of the game after initially being questionable to return, leaving the Wildcats without one of their most reliable offensive weapons.
Before exiting, McGowan recorded 11 carries for 44 yards, averaging 4.0 yards per attempt, with a long run of seven yards. He also contributed in the passing game, finishing with three receptions for 21 yards, including an 11-yard catch.
The setback proved costly for Kentucky, which was already struggling to establish any offensive rhythm against Georgia’s dominant defensive front. McGowan entered the game as Kentucky’s top playmaker, leading the team in rushing touchdowns this season and providing balance to a developing passing attack under quarterback Cutter Boley.
The severity of McGowan’s injury was not immediately disclosed. Kentucky will hope for positive news as it prepares to resume SEC play following the bye week to face off against Texas.
