Adam Copeland has pride for Canadian wrestling, so he supports platforms that allow Canadian wrestlers to hone their skills and be seen by a greater audience. That’s not just words from Cope. He is backing it up by debuting in Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling, owned by Scott D’Amore, on their Northern Rising PPV in Toronto on October 3. Copeland already has an opponent in mind, and that man is a former TNA world champion.
Steve Maclin recently appeared on the MLP Mayhem weekly program. The former TNA world
champion ran his mouth as the ‘ugly American’ calling Canadian wrestling a feeder system to the USA. He asked the fans why all their heroes left Canada for the USA. It’s true that Canada produces professional wrestlers, but America produces legends. Mic drop.
Maclin’s promo caught the attention of Copeland. Cope has been around the world in this sport, and he still pisses Molson beer and maple syrup. He challenged Maclin to a match at the Northern Rising PPV.
Also of note, Josh Alexander is back from injury. The Walking Weapon stands as the reigning MLW Canadian champion. Alexander suffered a knee injury in March, so MLP went forth with the interim champion route. Stu Grayson currently holds that gold. Alexander returned on MLP Mayhem, without getting physical, to confront the interim champion. It seems like the direction is a showdown for the Northern Rising PPV.
That’s if Grayson is still interim champion by that date. Grayson has a title defense against Johnny TV airing Wednesday night on MLP Mayhem.
