The good news is that Liam Delap does not need surgery on his hamstring.
The bad news is that he’s set to miss ten (more) weeks as he recovers from the problem non-surgically.
I know, I know, you’re supposed to start with the bad news. But really, there’s no “good” news here, just levels of bad. Obviously, it could’ve been worse — we just learned that Dário Essugo will be out for months after his hamstring surgery, for example — but Delap is still set to miss a solid chunk of time.
As per The Athletic,
the young striker probably won’t be back until after the November international break. Chelsea return to action from that break with a trip to Brentford on November 22, before facing Barcelona in the Champions League and Arsenal in the league at the Bridge in quick succession.
Thankfully we were able to recall Marc Guiu from his loan in the final hours of the transfer window to help cover for Delap. Looks like he’ll have plenty of opportunities to impress.
