Barcelona have confirmed that Jesse Bisiwu has avoided serious injury after being stretchered off playing for Barca Atletic on Wednesday night.
Bisiwu was injured in a heavy tackle early on in the match and had to be replaced. He was initially helped off the pitch and was then taken down the tunnel on a stretcher.
The summer signing has now undergone further tests and Barcelona have confirmed there is no serious injury.
“Player Jesse Bisiwu received a blow to his left thigh during yesterday’s match.
The medical tests carried out this morning have confirmed that it is solely a contusion. His return to training is expected in a short time frame,” the club said in a statement.
The news will be a big relief to Barcelona and Bisiwu. The 18-year-old has only just arrived at Camp Nou from Club Brugge but there are high hopes he can earn first-team opportunities this season.
