Welcome to Midnight Mania!
Let’s start the night off by taking a look back over the three biggest stories of Thursday, Aug. 21, 2025.
- ‘It’s over’ — Conor McGregor never coming back, just using UFC White House bid ‘to stay in the news’: At this point, it’s only a question of whether McGregor’s ego forces him to fight again, because there’s no doubt that he’s done as an elite athlete.
- Dricus du Plessis only needs ‘12 to 16 weeks’ to fix wrestling defense after UFC 319 — ‘We’ll be back early next year’: The frustrating thing here is that “DDP” was only a few small adjustments from actually giving Khamzat trouble, but the road to a rematch is massive.
- Jon Jones goes off on Daniel Cormier over steroid allegations: ‘It’s insulting!’: If you don’t want to be criticized for steroid usage, don’t fail drug tests.

Sean Strickland is intent on completing the anger management course and shortening his sentence to 4.5 months. Since the suspension is retroactive to June 29, Strickland would then be eligible to return on Friday, November 14, 2025. Maybe it’s finally time for the Robert Whittaker match up?
One of the most surreal clips in boxing history?
I find Joe Pyfer irritating much of the time, but he still deserves respect for making the most out of a rough start in life.
Alexander Volkov does not deserve these attacks. Ciryl Gane stole his chance!
This is a sneaky good Bantamweight fight, formerly ranked Gutierrez vs. unbeaten Basharat.
Why would Frankie Edgar intentionally post this podcast clip a week before his big BKFC announcement? This is not an encouraging anecdote!
Paddy Pimblett will call for a title shot in the same breath he rates American fast food restaurants.
Song Yadong got on the Movsar Evloev workout plan.
Slips, rips, and KO clips

Calf kick/foot sweep directly into high kick is great skill from an amateur fighter.
