FC Twente technical director Erik ten Hag says that there is plenty of interest in Ruud Nijstad but that the youngster wants to stay with the club for the season.
There was speculation that Barcelona wanted Nijstad late in the summer transfer window but a move failed to materialize.
It’s been claimed that Barcelona could reignite their interest in the January transfer window but Ten Hag says the teenager wants to spend the campaign with the Eredivisie side.
“For Ruud, and that is no secret, there is a lot
of interest from various very big clubs,” he told Oost.
“But he wants to stay here. We didn’t extend his contract for nothing. In any case, he wants to continue on this path here this season and be successful together with us. After that, we will look further.”
Nijstad signed a new contract in June that runs until 2029 but has said previously his ultimate goal is to play alongside Barcelona defender Pau Cubarsi.
