Look guys, we did this once. Well, I did. I wrote up a comprehensive trade rumor tracker, diligently updating the post with everything we read and heard. Then Anthony Davis got hurt because of course he did, and then the rumors stopped. I felt sad. I unpinned the post from the top articles on the website, there was no point! I sort of decided I wasn’t going to post anything else related to rumors because if Dallas did something, I’d rather be surprised than have my hopes up.
Then, of course, more
and more rumors popped up and I just can’t help myself. So, here we are. I’ll update it the next two days. If you want to see where we left off, click here.
February 3rd, 10:19 am – Cleveland Cavaliers made a call about Anthony Davis
According to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, the Cavaliers have made a call to the Mavericks about Davis. Now, this means next to nothing but considering where we were in terms of trades and thinking Davis wasn’t going to be moved at all, this is news. Someone will it into existence.
February 3rd, 9:45 am – Veteans could still move teams
ESPN’s Time Bontemps thinks that Klay Thompson, Daniel Gafford, and D’Angelo Russell could still move teams. Russell is the one I don’t see happening, the guy has a player option because Nico Harrison absolutely sucked at his job.
February 3rd, 5:00 am – Dallas moves seem unlikely
Christian Clark of the Athletic goes through the roster and indicates a broad sense that there isn’t a market for the players the Mavericks want to trade (Anthony Davis, Daniel Gafford) while Dallas seems attached to one guy they could move in Naji Marshall. Neat.
February 1st – Bucks show interest in Russell
This is buried deep in Marc Stein’s one year retrospective on the Luka trade. Anything involving Russell becomes a “I’ll believe it when it happens” thing. I certainly don’t want him on the Mavs anymore so why would another team want him.
