Joseph Parker didn’t manage to secure the fight against Oleksandr Usyk he’s been hoping for recently, but still has his next outing set when he’ll take on Fabio Wardley on Oct. 25 at the O2 Arena. Parker knows
that he can’t afford any slip ups in this instance so says his focus is fully on Wardley, but tells Sky Sports he also knows what can come his way should he successfully get through this fight.
“There are a lot of options out there after this fight,” Parker told Sky Sports News. “But if I don’t get past Fabio Wardley there’s no point talking about any Moses Itauma, any Usyk, anything else. But those fights are down the line and those fights are options once I get through this fight.”
With respect to Wardley in particular, Parker says he can’t afford to get switched off in the fight for even a second as that could be all that it takes for Wardley to land one big shot to change the fight in his favor. That said, Parker believes his superior skill and experience will carry the day for him, and with the increased speed and agility that Parker says he’ll be bringing into this fight, he believes the fans will be in for a treat.
And with a win you can expect Parker to turn his attention to the possibility of an Usyk showdown, or whatever other big fight he’ll be able to manage.
