What is the story about?
Man,
yesterday was a bad day to report to spring training. Injuries, injuries, injuries. Guess we’re all officially holding our breath for when Rob Thomson actually gives an in-person interview next week in Clearwater.
On to the links.
Phillies news:
- The season is ready to begin next week with spring training opening, so here are five things to be excited about.
- This will fall into former Phillies news, but Phillippe Aumont is back with an MLB organization, signing a minor league deal with the Blue Jays.
- To make sure this window of opportunity stays open, Andrew Painter is going to have to perform at a decent clip.
MLB news:
- Wow, where to begin with all the injuries? Francisco Lindor is going to miss at least six weeks, maybe more, with a hand injury.
- Spencer Schwellenbach is already on the 60-day IL with an elbow issue, bad news for a guy who missed a lot of time last year.
- Anthony Santander will miss 5-6 months to undergo labral surgery, a big blow to the defending AL champs.
- Justin Verlander is headed back to Detroit on a one year, heavily deferred, deal to join a rotation that also was hit by injury.
- Jose Quintana and Tomoyuki Sagano are going to the Rockies on a one-year deals. That should end well.
- I hesitate to include this, but with the impending labor war coming, will President Trump try and be an influence on negotiations ($)?
