I hardly have it in me to write this. Kind of wish I did not see some of you already talking about it in the comments of the last article. Okay, here goes…
Apparently, MSU football was involved in some
recruiting illegalities during our former coach’s tenure. The official statement from the university states that former staff members “arranged for and provided impermissible recruiting inducements and benefits and unofficial visit expenses,” and that Mel Tucker “engaged in impermissible contacts with prospective student-athletes.”
So the NCAA came down on MSU. The punishment is three years of probation and the vacating of 14 wins, five of which came under Coach Smith (so almost all of his wins). In addition to that, MSU is also being fined $30,000 plus 1.5% of the football program’s budget.
You can read this article for more information, but the accusation is that there were three ineligible players that participated in games. No word on who those players were.
There you have it. I am thinking I should disable comments for this article.
