Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across the NFL. Throughout the year we ask questions of the most plugged-in Falcons fans and fans across the country.
For the second time in his young career, Michael Penix Jr. was shut out on the road against a divisional opponent. Although the conditions were far crueler and the opposing defense was better than the Carolina team he faced last season, the stakes were much higher for a Falcons team that fans expect much more from. For Penix Jr. to repeatedly
put the ball in dangerous areas and not make the right reads doomed the offense in a big divisional matchup.
There’s no doubt the stormy conditions prevented him from playing at a high level. The top quarterbacks know how to make the right decisions and not get punished for throwing with anticipation. They don’t allow a nasty environment to put their team in a precarious position. Sunday was an eye-opener for the young gunslinger. It has led to conversations being had about his future as the long-term starter.
Has your mind changed about Penix Jr.’s outlook?
