According to a report from Kicker (as captured by @iMiaSanMia_GER), Bayern Munich and Harry Kane are close to agreeing on the parameters of a new contract, but do differ on the length of a deal:
In principle, both sides are willing to extend Harry Kane’s contract. Concrete talks have already taken place. The sporting management is said to have offered him a contract until 2029, while Kane is said to be aiming for three more years until 2030.
All parties involved are aware that this is likely his last
major contract in Europe, and financially strong clubs from abroad are closely monitoring Kane’s situation. It’s quite possible that interested parties will wait for the World Cup before submitting their offers.
Initial gentle feelers from the player’s side have already been made. The priority, however, is supposed to be staying in Munich. Kane’s family feels comfortable in Munich and has settled in splendidly after the move from England to Germany.
From Kane’s perspective, there is very little negative to say about his time in Bavaria. That said, he wants to be paid like the premier player on the team that he is per Kicker:
Kane also views his footballing development positively, just as much as winning titles with Bayern. Alongside the championship & cup, the CL title is still on his wish list. This season has given him the feeling that the probability of winning the CL title with Bayern is high, sources from Kane’s circle report. So much speaks in favor of him staying with Bayern. Nevertheless, there is still a lot to clarify.
In addition to the contract term, the salary must also be discussed. Jamal Musiala’s exorbitant salary is of little help in this case and for all further potential extensions—and it is a stumbling block on the desired path toward salary cost savings. Kane will in future, should a – perhaps performance-related – extension with him succeed, most likely and understandably not play for less salary. After all, he could earn around double that abroad.
There is always a fallout from someone on a team signing a big deal. Kane has been lights out all season and some would argue that he has been the best player in the world this season. For that, there is a premium to pay.
