Bayern Munich bottled Der Klassiker in spectacular fashion, missing several big chances and conceding a late equalizer to Borussia Dortmund. Konrad Laimer, who scored for Bayern alongside Dayot Upamecano, believed his team did enough to get the win and implied that Dortmund were lucky to get a result.
“I think we had enough chances to score more goals,” Laimer said (as captured by X account @iMiaSanMia). “I don’t think Dortmund really created any more chances in the second half than the two they scored
from. In fact, I thought we were even better in the second half than in the first. We played better, moved the ball around better and created a lot of chances, but we just couldn’t put them away today. That happens sometimes.
“Then, in the 90th minute, you concede a goal like that, which obviously shouldn’t happen to us,” Laimer lamented. “We shouldn’t be conceding goals in that manner. In the end, you walk away with a 2-2 draw, which obviously feels better for them than it does for us. But we have another game in three days. Now it’s about recovering, keeping our heads up and moving on.”
The Bavarians play Atlético Madrid away in the Champions League, followed by a Bundesliga match against Mainz next weekend.
