The Kentucky Wildcats are less than two weeks away from kickoff as they prepare to host the Toledo Rockets at Kroger Field.
It has been a quiet offseason, but with some solid reports coming out of fall camp regarding the Cats, things might be brighter in Lexington than many of us imagined, especially if Kendrick Law and Seth McGowan are good to go on August 30th.
The transfers have been dealing with some minor injuries this offseason, which has many around the BBN worried about their availability heading
into week one.
Well, according to Mark Stoops, we have nothing to worry about for the talented wideout and running back.
“He will be fine. He will be fine by the time we play the game,” Stoops said about McGowan during the Greater Louisville UK alumni kickoff luncheon on Monday. “I didn’t give any updates on injuries today, but he will be alright.”
He followed that up with some positive news about Law.
“He’s been 100% back from his injury that he had earlier in camp, and he’s looked really good. Had a nice scrimmage on Saturday, so he’s playing well.”
Law has missed some of fall camp with that injury, but it is good to hear that he returned to the field for the scrimmage this weekend, even making a nice catch in the end zone that we saw via the UK football Twitter account.
It is also good to hear a positive update surrounding McGowan as he seems poised to be one of the top two options out of the backfield come week one. Let’s hope he continues to trend in the right direction as we approach 10 days from kickoff.
Going to be an interesting few weeks as we approach kickoff.
One other note: it was confirmed that walk-on wideout Cole Lanter is done for the season due to an injury he suffered at UK’s Fan Day event.
