In the New York Jets’ 10th game of the 2025 season, on a clear, cold night in Foxborough, Massachusetts, the Jets lost to the New England Patriots, 27 – 14.
The first half saw the Jets get off to a fast
start with a long opening drive for a touchdown and an early 7 – 0 lead. After that it was all Patriots. The Jets couldn’t move the ball at all the rest of the half. The Patriots, on the other hand, put together a couple of long touchdown drives to make the score 14 – 7 in favor of the Patriots at halftime.
Both teams went nowhere on their opening drives of the second half. On their second drive the Patriots met little resistance on their way to a Drake Maye to TreVeyon Henderson touchdown pass and a 21 – 7 Patriots lead.
The Jets responded by putting together a long drive culminating in a Justin Fields to John Metchie touchdown pass to make it a 21 – 14 game late in the third quarter.
The fourth quarter opened with the Patriots driving in Jets territory. The Jets managed to hold the Patriots to a field goal to keep the game in reach at 24 – 14 early in the fourth quarter.
Midway through the fourth quarter the Jets botched a snap and the Patriots recovered the fumble on the Jets 11 yard line. The Jets defense held from there and forced a Patriots field goal, making the score 27 – 14, Patriots. The Jets were in deep trouble.
The Jets put together a drive deep into Patriots territory, but they eventually turned the ball over on downs with less than two minutes remaining, essentially ending the game. They fought hard, but they were simply outgunned by a superior Patriots team.
Final score: Patriots 27, Jets 14.
The Jets break their modest two game winning streak and fall to 2-8 on the season. Now the Jets prepare to go on the road to face Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens next week.
