Today is the day that the Minnesota Vikings report for training camp in Eagan, and one of the team’s stalwarts has an extra bit of business to attend to before things really get underway.
The Vikings and right tackle Brian O’Neill have agreed to a new four-year, $96 million contract extension that will keep O’Neill in purple through the 2030 season. No word yet on how the deal is structured, but it will almost certainly reduce his cap number for the 2026 season, which was set to be a team-high $23.1
million.
O’Neill is currently the longest-tenured member of the Vikings’ roster (unless/until Harrison Smith makes his return), as he was drafted by the Vikings in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft. He’s been a two-time Pro Bowl selection in his time with Minnesota and has started 120 of the 124 games he’s played in for the Vikings in his career.
The Vikings now have their bookend tackles signed for the foreseeable future, as Christian Darrisaw is signed through the 2029 season and O’Neill is now signed through 2030. As we’ve said for a long time, the Vikings have their tackle situation figured out. Now they just have to solidify the interior of the offensive line.
