Manchester United Women manager Marc Skinner confirmed the club’s plans to host Bayern Munich at Old Trafford for the UEFA Women’s Champions League Quarterfinal next month, taking place just a few days before the women’s Manchester Derby at the historic football ground the following weekend.
United advanced to the knockout phase after a two-leg playoff victory over Atletico Madrid this week, winning 5-0 on aggregate after a 2-0 second leg victory at Leigh Sports Village on Thursday.
This is the first
season for United in the Champions League proper, having fallen to Paris Saint-Germain in the qualifying round two years ago.
The Reds will host the current Frauen Bundesliga leaders in the first leg of the Quarterfinal on Tuesday, March 24, and will travel to Germany for the 2nd leg the following week on Wednesday, April 1. The return leg in Munich will be held at the Allianz Arena.
The Reds are still alive in all three cup competitions this season, facing Chelsea in both the FA Women’s FA Cup this weekend and the League Cup Final next month on March 15.
