The Denver Broncos seized control of the AFC West from the Kansas City Chiefs last week after a thrilling fourth quarter comeback and goal line stand. Now that they are back in first place in the division, they’ve got to keep it. That work starts today against the Carolina Panthers.
Game preview
While most expect the Broncos to come out with a road win here, this game has the markings of a ‘let down’ type game. Denver is coming off a huge and emotional win over a major rival in the division and in the conference.
Now they hit the road against a team that has struggled to stay afloat through eight games. At the end of the day, the difference between the best teams and the worst isn’t wide enough that any team can’t surprise and beat any other team.
So for the Broncos, they need to come out in this game and jump on a lead early. Make the Panthers realize they are outclassed and force them to throw the ball. This will lead to sacks and turnovers, which will, in turn, lead to victory. If they let Bryce Young and the Panthers get any kind of momentum earlier and give them the belief they can take the win, then Bo Nix and the Broncos will have to dig into the comeback well yet again. It would be nice just to win a game from start to finish. I do miss those types of games.
