The Broncos’ pass rush could have a boost this weekend.
It was already reported earlier this week that theChargers’ starting left tackle Rashawn Slater suffered a high ankle sprain this past Sunday and is expected to miss some time. Well, the bad news continued on Wednesday when NFL Network’s lead league insider Ian Rapoport reported that their starting right tackle Joe Alt could miss Sunday’s game vs. the Broncos with a neck injury.
The Chargers have already lost their starting center; their starting left guard did not practice today with a fibula injury, and reserve Trevor Penning did not practice due to a concussion, while reserve Branson Taylor was limited with a neck injury. In other words, their offensive line, which was already struggling, is very banged up heading into Sunday’s game.
It has been a tough start to the season for the Chargers, who sit at 0-4 and are the NFL’s most disappointing team to start the 2026 season. The addition of former offensive guru Mike McDaniels has not worked out, and the Chargers’ offense has not looked good at all. Now, with the annual offensive line injuries piling up, things could begin to snowball for the Chargers.
This is where the Broncos’ pass rush needs to come alive. They have had a tough start facing Patrick Mahomes, Trevor Lawrence, Matthew Stafford, and Brock Purdy (who still hasn’t been sacked) and seem to be missing John Franklin-Myers and Jonathon Cooper. Nik Bonitto, Zach Allen, Jonah Elliss, Que Robinson, and the rest of the Broncos pass rushers need to dominate the Chargers’ offensive line and get back to their league-leading sack ways.
They have had their struggles against the Chargers when Justin Herbert is starting, so hopefully, they can get things rolling on offense and defense this Sunday and improve to 3-2
