The Cleveland Cavaliers haven’t had the start to the season many were hoping for. Injuries play a significant role in that being the case. It’s difficult to win games when you’re without a few starters,
let alone five of your top eight players, as was the situation against the Toronto Raptors on Friday night. Still, there are some concerns to be had nonetheless.
Rebounding is one of those issues. It was a major problem in Cleveland’s loss to the Boston Celtics on Wednesday. According to Cavs fans surveyed earlier this week, 54% of them think that rebounding is the biggest concern facing the team.
I would’ve included injuries on this list if I were starting the survey now. But I do think rebounding could be an issue all season, even when the team is healthy again.
Moving on to something positive. Our second survey question was about who’s been the best pleasant surprise for the Cavaliers. Understandably, the fans overwhelmingly voted that Sam Merrill has been the biggest surprise.
The Cavaliers were also a subject of one of SB Nation’s national surveys. They were voted as the Eastern Conference team that was most likely to get a top-six seed out of the five options listed.
This result makes sense. Even though the Cavaliers have had a slow start due to injuries, they still are in a good position to finish the season at the top of the conference. The New York Knicks also haven’t come out of the gates hot, the Orlando Magic are struggling, and even though the Milwaukee Bucks have had a good start, it’s difficult to buy completely into their early success. By default, that leaves Cleveland as the safest choice.
