Marc-Andre ter Stegen is believed to be willing to swap Barcelona for Girona in the January transfer window in a bid to play regularly before World Cup 2026.
Girona boss Michel has already admitted he’d
love to have a player of Ter Stegen’s calibre but it is still unclear if a deal will go through this winter.
ESPN have an update on the situation and highlight the problems involved. A source told the outlet: “Of course we’re interested, but it’s very complicated because of his salary.”
The report adds that any deal will likely only take place towards the end of the window and would depend on Barcelona paying “a large part of the player’s high salary.”
Girona may also have to offload Dominik Livakovic first. The goalkeeper arrived in the summer but hasn’t managed to find a place in the team and also wants regular football before the World Cup this summer.
