There was very little baseball news yesterday for the most part, so please excuse this NFL digression: Cripes, how is it possible that we got an NFL season where none of the Chiefs, Cowboys, Steelers,
or Eagles won a playoff game and we still wound up with a Final Four that is just a damn snoozefest in my opinion? Maybe the games themselves will be good because that’s been a nice trend this month, but all four of these teams have won at least one Super Bowl in the past dozen years. So it’s hard to get too invested in any of these teams taking home the Lombardi. If anything, it’s just a mostly* arbitrary ranking of “which team will annoy me least if they win.” Yippie!!!
*The one non-arbitrary trend is that the world does not need a new Patriots dynasty. Please no.
We have a planed short day on the site today for the MLK Day holiday, as our only planned posts are Estevão with today’s Yankees birthday, first baseman Fernando Seguignol (most famous for being traded as a prospect for Montreal’s John Wetteland), and Madison with the latest mailbag prompt. Since it’s light, I will also take the opportunity to remind f0lks that we are hiring for the upcoming season! If you’re interested in joining our staff, check out the posting here.
Questions/Prompts:
1. Who ya got tonight in college football’s National Championship Game, Miami or Indiana?
2. What was the most surprising outcome from the NFL playoffs this past weekend?
