They say the fun part about watching baseball is that you can always see something you’ve never seen before. But there is nothing fun about watching a former Cy Young winner walk six batters in the first inning. They are saying it was the heat and the sweat that made it so that Bieber couldn’t grip the ball. Ok. It’s not like he is new to pitching or new to pitching in heat, but ok.
I doubt that it changes the chance that he’ll be moved at the deadline. I think most teams will see it as a one off.
But, carrying a no-hitter into the ninth might have been better optics.
As you may have guessed, after the team used 7.1 innings of relief pitching, last night, that there would be a move at the back of the bullpen. And you are right:
- Chad Dallas is back.
- CJ Van Eyk is on his way to Buffalo. He threw 3.1 innings yesterday.
Brendon Little threw 2.1 scoreless, walkless innings, with 4 strikeouts. A step in the right direction.
Vladimir Guerrero is out of the lineup today with hamstring tightness. Okamoto plays first, Clement at third and Davis Schneider gets a game at second. He hasn’t played second in more than a month (for us, I don’t know if he had in Buffalo).
