This offseason, we’ve had plenty of discussion about the fact that DE Myles Garrett was traded to the Los Angeles Rams in exchange for DE Jared Verse (and some valuable draft picks). What we haven’t talked about as much is the overall opinion of the team’s defensive end position.
With Garrett, a two-time defensive MVP, it was easy to not worry as much about the other defensive ends on the depth chart because you could just rely on him to save the day. We also saw moments where the likes of Alex Wright and Isaiah McGuire made some nice plays opposite him.
Verse has the reputation of one of the league’s best young pass rushers, but he obviously isn’t Garrett, who at times drew the attention of two to three blockers. With that in mind, when you think of Cleveland’s depth chart at defensive end including Verse, Wright, McGuire, Julian Okwara, Logan Fano, Tyreak Sapp, Khordae Sydnor, and Benton Whitley, what do you think of the position? Is it solid/threatening, is it average, or is it a weakness?
