Bayern Munich fans turned out to be quite a handful according to a recent analysis on Reddit. German sports betting portal Wettfreundescoured Bundesliga subreddits to evaluate fan behavior. The Bavarian faithful finished second behind rivals Borussia Dortmund in profanity. On the flip side, Paderborn’s fans were both the best-behaved and the most positive.

Profanity is not the biggest problem
Over 130,000 comments between August 2025 and August of 2026 were analyzed from subreddits to assess for vulgarity, politeness, negativity and positivity. And, the results are interesting for Bayern. Despite ranking second with nearly 10 percent of the comments containing swear words in German and English, it was negativity that took center-stage. The analysis revealed a sheer lack in optimism among Bayern’s fans with over 54 percent of the comments being negative in nature. Only Werder Bremen’s supporters beat the Bavarians in this regard by a slim margin of 0.8 percent.
Stressful windows despite a successful season
Let us cut to the chase here. Bayern has two major traumas in recent history. The first being injuries tanking the squad’s ability in the business end of the season. Second being a run of premature exits from the Champions League. The number of times that Bayern has been the better side only to get shipped off due to missed chances, abysmal officiating or just poor luck has left its mark on the fans. The absence of Jamal Musiala and Alphonso Davies due to major injuries, Thomas Müller leaving the club and a thin squad at the start of last season did not leave much room for positivity to start with.
However, Vincent Kompany really impressed with his management skills and the level of output from a comparatively thin squad. The team was scoring goals left, right and center as they smashed through opponents in all competitions.
The peak moments
The most anticipated stage was the Champions League knockouts where Bayern finally exorcised the old demons as they emerged victorious over Real Madrid. However, that was not an easy contest with the game swinging wildly between the two sides.
Several on BFW, too, lost hope after Manuel Neuer’s mistakes in the second leg. But, Die Roten did not give up and wrested the game back with stunning goals from Luis Diaz and Michael Olise. The hope was slim that it was possible to comeback from behind despite having done it in the domestic fixtures. The semi-finals against Paris Saint-Germain was pretty much the same with the final result not going in Bayern’s favor. There were more who believed we lost the contest way ahead of the final whistle.
It is all great to be real and stick to what is possible, but to truly back your team is to push for the impossible until the clock is still running. Against Real Madrid, Bayern proved they could find their way back from behind. PSG were better due to their midfield superiority but let us not forget how much trouble we gave them. Diaz’s solo goal in Paris was the stuff of magic that breathed life back into the game for Bayern. These are the moments that fans need to keep pushing for no matter how impossible things may seem. Not to condone profanity but swearing in the heat of the moment until it isn’t wildly vulgar is understandable. But, losing all hope is totally unacceptable! The mindset of champion teams needs to also reflect in the mindset of champion fans as seen with the immense support Bayern received offline in the stadiums. Mia San Mia!
