Bayern Munich will be without star winger Michael Olise due a suspension against Werder Bremen on Saturday, but they might have been missing him anyway had he collided with head coach Vincent Kompany ahead of the team’s 2-0 victory over RB Leipzig in the DFB-Pokal on Wednesday.
“Michael has obviously been excellent so far. The main thing is he’s not injured. We’ve got options to replace him for this one game. Then a different player can look forward to playing tomorrow,” Kompany said (as captured
by @iMiaSanMia).
Kompany was also asked about the near-collision, which he was not aware of at the time.
“I hadn’t seen that. It’s better for him that he didn’t run into that wall,” Kompany said with a laugh.
Olise might, indeed, have taken a bit of a hit on that, but maybe —- just maybe — it would have been a tale as old as time: The Irresistible Force vs. The Immovable Object.
