The Kentucky Wildcats are getting geared up for the regular season tip-off next week, but first, they will host the Georgetown Hoyas in Rupp Arena for their final exhibition game of the preseason.
After an impressive showing against Purdue last week, Mark Pope and his team will look to knock off Ed Cooley’s squad tonight. However, they will be doing so without Denzel Aberdeen.
According to KSR’s Jack Pilgrim, Aberdeen is out for precautionary reasons due to a minor leg issue. It sounds like something
relatively small and the team is keeping him out simply because this is a game that doesn’t count before the real games begin next week.
The Florida Gators transfer was on the court putting up shots and doing other shooting work prior to this game, so don’t expect him to be out for the regular-season opener vs. Nicholls.
Aberdeen played well against the Boilermakers last week as he led the team in minutes as the lead guard in Jaland Lowe’s absence. He did so by showcasing that two-way ability we saw him show with Florida last season on their way to the National Championship, as he helped UK lock down Purdue All-American Braden Smith.
In his absence, this will be another opportunity for Collin Chandler and Jasper Johnson to showcase their skill sets as rotations begin to take shape for the opening games of the season.
