The Miami Dolphins host the Detroit Lions in Week 9, kicking off on Sunday afternoon from Hard Rock Stadium. Miami lost in Week 8, dropping to 1-6 in a season that is focused on establishing a foundation for a rebuilding team. The Lions are coming off a win to give their NFC North rivals, the Minnesota Vikings, their first loss of the year. Detroit is 5-2 this season, but third in their division. After a disappointing 9-8 season last year, the Lions are looking to fight their way back to the top
of the NFC North in route to another deep playoff run.
This is a game between a team that is likely headed toward an early pick in the 2027 NFL Draft and a team hoping to be a factor in the NFC postseason. The television broadcast plan seems to mirror exactly who each team is.
Reminder: Affiliates can elect to change their coverage assignments during the week – we will update on Sunday if there are any changes to the Dolphins’ viewing area.
Where will the Lions vs. Dolphins game air on TV?
The good news about the broadcast plan for this week is CBS has assigned Kevin Harlan and Trent Green to the coverage. Harlan’s play-by-play call is becoming legendary in Miami, and we will once again get to experience it on Sunday.
The bad news is, not much of Florida will receive the game on their local CBS channel. With Miami struggling, only the Miami, West Palm Beach, and Fort Myers markets will get the game.
As for the markets interested in the game because of the Lions side of the schedule, all of the NFC North will get to watch. All of Michigan and Wisconsin will air the game, along with most of Minnesota. The Chicago market in northern Illinois and Indiana will pick up the game, as will the Toledo, Ohio CBS affiliate.
