Welcome to The Linc, the daily Philadelphia Eagles links roundup at Bleeding Green Nation!
If the Eagles go 0-3 in three straight division games coming up to drop to 2-7 overall, it’ll be safe to say the season is over … if it’s not already. If the Eagles reach that point, it’s hard not to think Howie Roseman will be selling. But it’s hard to envision a full on fire sale. He’s not going to trade players unless the price is right.
Roob’s Observations: Why a Howie Roseman trade deadline sell-off is unlikely
– NBCSP
WHY MAJOR HOWIE MOVES ARE UNLIKELY: I keep hearing about all the players Howie is going to unload before the NFL trade deadline on Nov. 10. Guys like Saquon Barkley, Moro Ojomo, Zack Baun, Riq Woolen, Landon Dickerson and Dallas Goedert. Basically, older players who may not fit into the Eagles’ future or players on the final year of their contract situation who may be unsignable. Don’t count on it. While a sell-off is possible if this thing continues to spiral, there’s two important things to remember. First of all, you’re never going to trade a player for less or equal what he might bring you in the comp pick equation. Moro Ojomo for example is probably going to bring you a 3rd-round comp pick and you’re not going to get a 2nd-rounder for him. Howie Roseman values picks the same whether they’re a year later, so he’d rather have a comp 3rd-round pick in 2028 than a 4th-round pick in 2027. The second thing to remember is that in the current NFC East landscape, there’s a chance the Eagles will still be in the playoff race when the trade deadline arrives on Nov. 10. They have the Cowboys, Commanders and Giants before the deadline, combined record 6-10-1. And 0-7-1 vs. teams with a winning record. So as grim as things look right now, they look just as grim for everyone else in the division, and if the Eagles win two of these next three Howie isn’t going to start selling off pieces at 4-5. He owes it to Jeff Lurie and the players and coaches and the city to keep the team intact if the Eagles are in contact with the division leaders. And the way things are going, it’s going to be hard not to be. Nobody likes to make trades more than Howie. But he likes to be in the playoffs even more. And he’s not going to unload any significant pieces while the Eagles still have any chance to win the division.
Eagles Film Preview: Cowboys offense surprisingly difficult to project – BGN
The Cowboys were a surprisingly difficult offense to break down this week. I watched the Texans game and saw an offense that could protect its quarterback and find plenty of ways to get the ball to its best players. Then I watched the Packers game and wondered where all of that had gone. This is still a talented offense, and I can’t shake the feeling that it will come together at some point. However, I thought the Cowboys were more creative last year, and their coaching staff isn’t getting enough from this group right now. With everything going on with the Eagles’ offense, the defense needs to play well if this team has any chance. There are opportunities to disrupt the Cowboys, but there is also enough talent here to make this a very uncomfortable matchup.
Five Eagles thoughts: Jalen Hurts’ future, Tanner McKee’s present, and exploring a trade-deadline selling scenario – PHLY Eagles
Saquon Barkley: This is possibly the trickiest one. There’s a compelling argument for getting value for Barkley if the season truly goes sideways. He’s 29 years old and still the type of player a real contender would likely view as the final piece for a title push. Do the Eagles view him as an important part of a potential turnaround in 2028 and beyond? He’s under contract through 2029 if so, but getting out of a significant investment at the running back position makes some sense to me. I’d say yes, but certainly not for a discount. Dallas Goedert: Leaning yes. He’s only under contract through this season and has been seeking a better deal for multiple years now. If a contending team offers an early-Day-3 pick, wouldn’t it make sense to clear the way for Eli Stowers to get some developmental snaps?
NFL Week 7 predictions: Upsets, fantasy sleepers, stat lines, TD scorers, more – ESPN
Moody predicts three fantasy sleepers — Tanner McKee, QB, Philadelphia Eagles (4.6%). McKee is an intriguing sleeper with quarterback Jalen Hurts out for the season (blood clots). He threw for 215 yards and a touchdown against the Panthers last week and now faces a Cowboys defense that has allowed 21.6 fantasy points per game to quarterbacks (fifth most in the league). Dallas has also given up 11 passing touchdowns this season. McKee attempted 45 passes last week, and he has the targets to reach the end zone with DeVonta Smith and Dallas Goedert (both questionable to play). He’s worth considering in deeper single-QB leagues and as a QB2 in superflex formats.
NFL Week 7 picks: Upset and score predictions, matchup breakdowns for every game – NFL.com
Why Bobby picked the Cowboys: Because Dallas simply has to win. The Eagles surely feel the same way, but they aren’t nearly as close to full strength as the Cowboys — and probably won’t be for the rest of the season now that Jalen Hurts is out due to blood clots. For as bad as the past two weeks have been for the Cowboys, they feel like a safer pick to turn things around in a division that is wide open. Dallas has been disappointing, but the Eagles have been in such disarray during the month of October that offensive lineman Jordan Mailata reflected on Week 5 as the “week from hell,” only to realize midweek last week that he “might have jumped the gun” describing it as such after problems continued to pile up. Since then, the Eagles lost their fourth straight and the aforementioned news on Hurts dropped, so be on the lookout for Mailata’s latest re-evaluation of how low things can go. In a battle between Tanner McKee and Dak Prescott, I choose Prescott, who is due for a turnaround performance. He’s too good and surrounded by too many weapons to stay in a rut. Considering the Commanders are on a bye and the Giants are facing a resurgent Texans squad, the NFC East’s winless stretch could very well run from Oct. 5 through Oct. 25, rectified at long last by Dallas in prime time.
From Cowboy to Eagle, Joe Milton III finds himself on the other side of the rivalry – PhiladelphiaEagles.com
“I definitely learned a lot over there,” Milton said. “Development-wise, it’s going great. It’s amazing. I love to learn. Taking notes again and learning the new offense.” Part of the Cowboys’ practice squad this year, Milton was surprised when his agent called him before practicing last week and said that the Eagles wanted to sign him. “Just because it is a rivalry and it was just like, ‘Dang, no way.’ My agent called me and mentioned it to me. … I went to practice like it was a normal day and tried to operate under a Dallas Cowboy at the time,” Milton said. ”I went home, but really when I got in my car, everything’s just changed. I was just like, ‘What am I going to do? Am I going to stay on the practice squad or should I show up for my opportunity?’ I’m here.”
NFLPA has yet to launch “full investigation” of Jalen Hurts situation – PFT
Hurts has a potential lawsuit against the doctors who provided his care, independent of any more limited rights against the Eagles or the league. While it could get complicated — especially if Hurts may have to file a lawsuit in the U.S. and in England — a “superficial” blood clot in his leg resulting from being cleated during the Week 4 game against the Rams became a deep vein thrombosis and blood clots in each lung. It’s fair for Hurts to ask whether the medical care Hurts received caused or contributed to the progression of the situation into something both serious and life-threatening. And the eventual impact of the situation on his career is currently unknown. The only prudent approach would be to investigate all aspects of the situation from the moment Hurts suffered the initial injury until the point at which the “bilateral pulmonary emboli” were diagnosed. Even if the Eagles and Hurts continue to be on the same page, Hurts can still pursue his rights against the various doctors who may have handled the situation in a way that fell short of the requisite standard of care.
NY Giants roster moves: Tremaine Edmunds to IR, Paulson Adebo returns – Big Blue View
The New York Giants continue to take hits on defense. The Giants have placed inside linebacker Tremaine Edmunds, the team’s leading tackler through six games, on injured reserve with a torn chest muscle. The Giants also announced on Saturday that starting safety Jevon Holland, who has a team-high three interceptions, has been downgraded to out with a concussion. Edmunds had 50 tackles in six games. He was second behind rookie Arvell Reese in solo tackles with 34. Micah McFadden, a full-time starter at linebacker for the Giants in 2023 and 2024, will take Edmunds’ place. McFadden played in just one game last season due to a foot injury. The Giants have also lost edge defender Brian Burns, who has 16.5 sacks in 2025, and starting defensive lineman Chauncey Golston for the season.
NFL predictions: 3 bold takes on the Cowboys at Eagles – Blogging The Boys
Maybe the boldest prediction about the Dallas Cowboys right now, in any game, is that they will actually win it. Are we getting cynical only six games through the season? Yes, but our hand was forced. This edition of the Cowboys keeps giving away games. Not only do we have a defense that shakes our faith every week, the offense has decided to join them. So in the spirit of bold predictions, we’re going all positive for the Cowboys this week. Just when we think we’re out, they will pull us back in.
Tyler’s Take – Adam Peters has the chance to play hero, but will he? – Hogs Haven
Washington currently sits at 1-4-1 and in the basement of the weak NFC East. Despite this, they are just two games out of first with a very manageable eight games coming up. General manager Adam Peters is currently under a lot of heat for how he has handled roster building over the past two seasons and his much-maligned choice at head coach in Dan Quinn, who currently sits on the hottest seat in the NFL coaching ranks.
NFL surges ahead with Saints-Steelers in Paris for their ‘let them eat cake’ moment – SB Nation
The NFL is staying the course to bring football to Paris for the first time, which has become extremely complicated in light of protests and domestic unrest in France. The New Orleans Saints will “host” the Pittsburgh Steelers at Stade de France on Sunday, and there are serious security questions from players surrounding the event.
