A standard cliché often uttered around the NFL is that “you are what your record says you are.”
In that case, the Cleveland Browns and their 3-2 record are comfortably in second place in the AFC North, with a chance to move into first place when they host the Baltimore Ravens this Sunday at Huntington Bank Field.
But after the latest forgettable road trip to New Jersey, where the Browns lost in an ugly fashion to the New York Jets, is anyone feeling confident about the Browns?
Yes, those three wins
count, and the Browns earned them. But they may also turn out to have been fool’s gold if the team that showed up against the Jets and the Jacksonville Jaguars turns out to be the real Browns, as opposed to the one that pulled out late-game victories over Tampa Bay, Carolina, and Pittsburgh.
Everything is magnified in the NFL as teams only play once a week.
But after watching what the Browns put out on the field against the Jets, they certainly look like a team that is closer to the basement than it is to the penthouse.
Enough looking back; onward to today’s edition of the Daily Dawg Chow!
