What is the story about?
The Phillies are a talented team. They are not, however, a young team. That’s why Dave Dombrowski is looking for ways to get the veterans some more rest. J.T. Realmuto could catch fewer games. Harper could DH more, with Schwarber taking over at first. So on and so forth.
There are, of course, drawbacks. Realmuto’s presence behind the plate would be sorely missed. Schwarber is not a great fielder, and the team’s defense is already not a strong point. But the upsides, should it all go as planned, are obvious.
It’ll be a while before we see how this all plays out. But for the moment: what do you think of the plan to get the vets more rest?
