Could Michigan kick off Memorial Day weekend by landing another top target in the 2027 class?
That’s the expectation heading into Friday, as the Wolverines look to build off their success on the trail this month by securing commitments from another top target. Should they come away successful, the news would give them 14 pledges this cycle, including nine in May alone.
Tavares Harrington
Michigan already has one verbal commitment in the class hailing from Chicago powerhouse Mt. Carmel in four-star wide receiver Quentin
Burrell, and it is trending considerably for one of Burrell’s teammates.
Four-star defensive back Tavares Harrington will choose between Michigan, Notre Dame, Alabama and others later tonight at 8 p.m. ET. His original commitment date was set for June 27, but around a month ago, he wasn’t dead set on keeping his recruitment open until then. Flash forward to this week and his mind is made up.
Harrington traveled to Ann Arbor twice when Michigan was holding spring camp, first to take in a practice and then for the spring game at The Big House. He was with Burrell on the second visit, and the two are expected to take their respective official visits together during Victor’s Weekend June 19-21.
Safeties coach Tyler Stockton was an essential asset in turning up the heat for Harrington this offseason regarding communication and relationship building. The fruits of Stockton’s labor is now poised to come to fruition later today, as all the predictions are in favor of the Wolverines.
At 6-foot-3, 180 pounds, Hampton is listed as the No. 124 overall prospect and No. 8 safety nationally, per the Rivals Industry Ranking. He’s also the No. 8 player in Illinois.
