Welcome to The Linc, the daily Philadelphia Eagles links roundup at Bleeding Green Nation!
While I don’t believe Howie Roseman is throwing the towel in on the 2026 season just yet, I do believe some of the messaging in the following ESPN article points to greasing the skids for the Eagles to sell some players ahead of the 2026 NFL trade deadline. Plans can always change if the Eagles start to rip off some wins prior to Tuesday, November 10. And Roseman isn’t just going to move players for the heck
of it; the price has to be right, like it was in the Cam Jurgens deal. But it seems notable that the names of Dickerson and Barkley — who are both currently injured — were mentioned below.
Let’s get to the Philadelphia Eagles news and links …
Sources: Eagles mull Lane Johnson roster status amid O-line changes – ESPN
Bold emphasis mine:
The Eagles also moved on from Jurgens, trading the two-time Pro Bowl center and a 2027 seventh-round draft pick to the Ravens for a 2027 fifth-rounder and a 2028 second-rounder. The trade caused many around the league to wonder if there is a selloff coming in Philadelphia. In other words, does general manager Howie Roseman believe it’s time to trade expensive pieces away, knowing it may not be his season? According to those involved, absolutely not. In fact, Roseman is just as likely to take the 2028 second-rounder acquired in the Jurgens deal and trade it for a player that can help Philadelphia this season as he is to keep the pick in a safe place for the future. That future second-round pick gives Roseman maximum flexibility. Accordingly, it would not surprise those in the league if teams start calling on Eagles guard Landon Dickerson when he is healthy enough to return from injured reserve Based on the way the roster looks, the Eagles think they can win now. Philadelphia has talent all over the place on defense, a quarterback who has won plenty, and proven players at the skill positions. There is a lot the Eagles like, which is why, although rival GMs ask the question of whether they trade their top skill players like Saquon Barkley, a move like that would fly in the face of a team trying to win now. Essentially, the Jurgens trade was too much to turn down for a player who may have had to play guard in Philadelphia anyway.
Marvin Harrison Jr. trade rumors: Eagles NOT interested in Cardinals wide receiver – BGN
The Arizona Cardinals are reportedly trading Marvin Harrison Jr. to … a team that has yet to be named. That team is NOT the Philadelphia Eagles, according to a report from PHNX’s Johnny Venerable. Some community members here at BGN were wondering if the Eagles should be interested in bringing the Philly native and St. Joe’s Prep alumnus back home.
Lane Johnson will remain on the Eagles’ 53-man roster all season – PhillyVoice
Lane Johnson’s surprise retirement won’t just have ramifications on the Philadelphia Eagles’ on-field product. It also comes with financial and roster considerations. PhillyVoice has learned that the Eagles plan on keeping Johnson on their 53-man roster this season. By doing so, that leaves open the possibility that Johnson could change his mind and come back to play this season, unlikely as that may be. […] Obviously, the downside is that a player who announced that he is done playing football will occupy a spot on the active roster all season.
Game Preview – PHI vs JAX in UK – Iggles Blitz
We’ll have some new skill players to watch. Will Shipley could be the key RB. Dameon Pierce and Carson Steele will make their Eagles debuts. It will be interesting to see what they can do. Both guys flashed this summer. The Eagles elevated TE Zach Ertz and OT John Ojukwu. Ertz could fare better when playing with Goedert. Ojukwu offers depth up front. With this many guys out on offense, points will be at a premium. That means the defense needs to play their best game of the season. The defense simply hasn’t made enough plays this season. They have 2 takeaways and 4 sacks. That’s a good game, not what you want for the opening month.
Eagles-Jaguars predictions: Can Philadelphia overcome roster bombshells and injuries? – The Athletic
Berman: Jacksonville will field a superior team. The Jaguars are playing superior this season. They’re more conditioned to the London trip than the Eagles. It’s hard to see this game going to the Eagles, who are 7.5-point underdogs. The Eagles’ best chance is the defense playing as well as it did for about 53 minutes of last week’s game. It’s possible Fangio’s unit flummoxes Lawrence and keeps the points down, as Denver did against the Jaguars. But I’m not sure the Eagles can score enough — especially without Barkley and Smith and with an unproven offensive line. Expect Will Shipley to look serviceable as the No. 1 option, and Goedert’s return to the lineup will help. It won’t be enough on offense. They’ll drop to 2-3 for their first losing record since 2021. Because of their late-in-the-week travel plans, their body clocks won’t need to adjust back to Philadelphia time ahead of a critical Week 6 game against the Carolina Panthers. Jaguars 23, Eagles 16.
Strolling about London counting dozens Eagles fans in the wild – NBCSP
There’s just something remarkable about spotting a Reggie White jersey at Westminster Abbey. But that comes a bit later in the journey, well after delirium had already settled in. The options from Philadelphia International Airport weren’t great, so the overnight flight from JFK to Heathrow got me into London bright and early on Friday morning. Because I had never been to London before and because I wanted to make the most of my limited time in a new city, I came up with a hairbrained idea. Why don’t I walk around the city all afternoon and count how many Eagles fans I spot in the wild?! Was it a good idea? Debatable. Did that stop me? Absolutely not.
Jeffrey Lurie on Mike Ditka’s legacy and the state of the Eagles – Inquirer
Lurie also addressed the Eagles’ recent struggles, but said the organization’s expectations are still high. The Birds have lost two consecutive games and enter Week 5 at 2-2, raising concerns for many fans. “We are gung-ho to win big and win our division first, and go from there,” Lurie said. “So we couldn’t be more excited.”
The road to the Eagles began in England for Joshua Weru – PhiladelphiaEagles.com
The Eagles are traveling to England this week, a country where one of their players lived for years. At the age of 14, Eagles outside linebacker Joshua Weru moved from Kenya to England to pursue rugby union. He played for the Northampton Saints’ academy and earned a first-team contract in 2022. During his time at the club, Weru attended two English boarding schools. The first was in the English countryside near Milton Keynes – a city to the north of London, while his second school was, funnily enough, in a town called Rugby. “In school, you got a lot of support from the other students,” Weru said about his days playing boarding school rugby in England. “I watched Saints games. It’s a fun experience watching a rugby game because it’s friendly. It’s not the same way soccer is where it’s like the fans are separated. It’s the same as this kind of football (American football) where fans mix. It’s a good, fun experience watching rugby.”
Trevor Lawrence continues to perform among the NFL’s elite quarterbacks – PFT
The hiring of Liam Coen as head coach of the Jaguars has been very good for quarterback Trevor Lawrence. After Coen arrived, Lawrence became one of the elite quarterbacks in the NFL. Case in point: Lawrence has produced more touchdowns since the start of the 2025 season than all NFL quarterbacks except two: Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford and Bills quarterback Josh Allen.
Detroit Lions use final practice squad elevation on veteran safety – Pride Of Detroit
The Detroit Lions made just one roster move ahead of their Sunday afternoon tilt with the Arizona Cardinals, and it’s a familiar one. They have elevated veteran safety Jalen Mills from the practice squad. This is the third straight week Mills has been elevated while the team navigates a shorthanded secondary that still has Avonte Maddox (IR), Thomas Harper (IR), and Brian Branch (PUP) unavailable due to injury. Mills didn’t play on his first elevation, but he got four defensive snaps and seven special teams snaps against the Carolina Panthers last week. Lions coach Dan Campbell said Mills is likely to get more playing time against the Arizona Cardinals now that he has been with the team for a few weeks.
Mykel Williams is officially back – Niners Nation
In addition, the 49ers elevated defensive lineman Ogbo Okoronkwo from the practice squad. The 49ers released Okoronkwo on Friday to create a roster spot that will now be filled by Williams, but re-signed him to the practice squad. They’ll have him up again for Sunday’s game. […] Additionally, the Niners elevated tight end Jack Stoll from the practice squad. Stoll was signed to the 49ers practice squad back in mid-September. With Kyle Juszczyk out, the 49ers are bringing up another tight end to fill the void on Sunday.
Patriots activate Brenden Schooler, place two veterans on injured reserve amid series of moves – Pats Pulpit
The Patriots placed fullback Reggie Gilliam and wide receiver Mack Hollins on injured reserve and signed [former Eagles] cornerback Kindle Vildor to the 53-man roster. The club also elevated linebacker K.J. Britt and safety Elliott Davison from the practice squad.
Survey results: Fans split on the Giants’ playoff potential – Big Blue View
The New York Giants are going into Week 5 with a 3-1 record and sole possession of first place in the NFC East. If the season ended today, the Giants would have the third seed and host the Seattle Seahawks at MetLift Stadium. However, the season doesn’t end today. Instead, the Giants will be facing the 1-3 Washington Commanders on the road; a game in which they’re 3.5-point underdogs (per FanDuel). And despite holding first place in the NFC East, with the chance to gain a two-game lead in the division, few have confidence that the Giants will even make the playoffs — let alone win the division.
Cowboys vs. Buccaneers Stock Report: Coaches, players almost universally downgraded – Blogging The Boys
Stock Down: Christian Parker. Have we, at any point, felt like we got what we thought we did with Parker? There is an argument to be made that Christian Parker is the most disappointing person across the entire NFL so far this season, at least relative to expectations. Consider the level of impossibility that he would be so similar to Matt Eberflus in results.
Washington Commanders make several roster moves before Giants game – Hogs Haven
The Washington Commanders announced a few roster moves before they host the New York Giants tomorrow. Three players had their 21-day practice windows opened this week, but only one of them has been activated. DE Deatrich Wise Jr. has been on the Physically Unable to Perform list due to a quad injury from last season. He has been activated and added to the Commanders 53-man roster. He can be active this week, and could be needed due to injuries to other players, including Charles Omenihu. LB Austin Keys was also signed from the practice squad, and will likely be available for special teams. CB Trey Amos (ankle) and RB Jeremy McNichols (quad) weren’t activated and remain on injured reserve for another game.
NFL Expert Picks for Week 5 – SB Nation
The panel rolls out with their picks in Week 5, and this is a DOOZY of a schedule around the NFL. This was one week where we all had to hem and haw over the majority of picks on the slate, because there are so many unknowns in Week 5 — and also some serious desperation games.
