Barcelona reportedly turned down the chance to sign Yan Diomande this summer in favor of landing Anthony Gordon from Newcastle.
A new report from Diario Sport claims that Barcelona had been scouting Diomande for a little while and were offered the chance to sign the exciting young star.
However, Barcelona passed on the chance as they had already decided to go for Gordon after being impressed with the winger and his Champions League displays.
Barcelona had been looking for a top-level winger, largely
due to Raphinha’s injuries, and decided on Gordon due to his “speed, ability to attack spaces and intensity without the ball.”
The report even goes as far as to claim that Flick “fell in love” with Gordon and told Deco to make the England international an “absolute priority” regarding summer transfers.
Gordon subsequently signed in a transfer worth 80 million euros and much will be expected from him next season.
Diomande, meanwhile, is widely regarded as one of the most exciting young talents around. Liverpool had been keen to sign him this summer but the latest updates have claimed he wants to join PSG.
