It feels fast, but baseball season is right around the corner. What’s a better way to spend Valentine’s weekend than in Oxford for opening weekend of baseball?!
As we approach the new season, the Cup will introduce you to the boys taking the diamond this spring, starting with the outfield.
#25 Daniel Pacella – Senior (Illinois St)
Pacella is a 6’4 transfer from Illinois St. In three years, he started 106 of 107 possible games finishing with the second most home runs in school history with 48. He hit 20 in 2025 alone, which would have placed
him third on the Ole Miss roster. He drove in 176 runs during his tenure and was named to the freshman All-American team. Without question Pacella will be a permanent fixture in the outfield as well as top part of the lineup.
#32 Tristan Bissetta – Senior (Clemson)
Well, well, well not a Clemson player choosing to come to Ole Miss instead. What are the odds? I digress. Bissetta is a boom or bust signee for coach Mike Bianco. His 2025 season was cut short due to injury and is coming off Tommy John surgery. The bat struggled last year but in 2024 he hit .298 with seven home runs, winning the team’s most improved award. Another expected starter in the field that could range from lead off hitter to bottom third.
#9 Hayden Federico – Sophomore
Federico is listed as an infielder on the team’s website, but all of his starts in the field were in the outfield as a freshman, which we anticipate to continue. He started 46 games as a freshman, leading to an SEC All Freshman team selection. He needs to improve the .243 batting average, but he had a good eye, drawing 34 walks. The sophomore will be an emotional leader for the club.
#2 Brett Moseley – Freshman (RS)
The redshirt Freshman will have the first crack at being the fourth outfielder for this squad, however it is unlikely he finds any regular playing time barring injury.
#4 Cannon Goldin – Freshman
The true freshman from Buford, Georgia was a two-time All-American. Here is his Perfect Game description:
“Athletic build with strength in the frame. Twitchy athlete and very good runner with a centerfield profile. Works through the ball with impressive confidence. Good arm that carries and showed excellent accuracy to the bases. A left-handed hitter, very good bat to ball skills. Can hit hard liners to all field and very disruptive at the top of the line up. Table setting skills will be the carrier. Committed to Mississippi.”
