Angeibel Gomez
and Kendry Chourio were named the Royals Prospects of the Year, by MLB.com.It’s not common for a player to earn organizational hitter of the year honors after a Dominican Summer League campaign, but Gomez’s season (.361/.467/.653, 156 wRC+) was too impressive to look past, and the Royals thought enough of him to make him the second-youngest player ever to compete in the Arizona Fall League.
One of the best pitching prospects in the game pitched like it as an 18-year old across two levels
of A ball, topping all Royals with at least 90 IP in ERA (2.48), BAA (.193), WHIP (0.89) and K/BB (5.35).
Carter Jensenwas named first team, All-Rookie team by MLB.com as well.
Jensen made the Royals’ Opening Day roster as MLB’s No. 18 overall prospect and immediately showed he was one of the better all-around catchers in the game. He ranked third among all backstops with a 3.7 WAR and fourth among all rookies with 27 homers as he slashed .239/.323/467. The Kansas City native also made great strides on defense, where he showed off above-average framing skills and pop times.
