Another week, another draft position, but this time, it’s happening after a win! Interestingly enough, due to the strength of the schedule and the Carolina Panthers winning, the Saints are now projected to select 14th, eventhough they were projected 19th last week.
Here are two prospects that the Saints could select at pick 14:
LSU OT Jordan Seaton
Let’s start with something crazy. So Kelvin Banks Jr., the Saints starting LT, is likely out for the season with an injury. In his limited time, he showed enough to feel comfortable
moving forward, but Taliese Fuaga on the other side has been… an interesting experience. Fuaga is getting beat much more than usual, and he’s playing like when he was injured last year. So, with that in mind, taking a tackle may still be in the cards, even if it’s a bit frustrating.
Both of the Saints’ tackles can be moved to guard, so although Jeremiah Wright is learning behind Cesar Ruiz, the Saints can try Fuaga at LG in this move. The best tackle available at this spot in the draft is LSU tackle Jordan Seaton, and he has been really good this year.
Florida RB Jadan Baugh
Sticking with the offense, the Saints have struggled to run the ball to start the season. Blame could, and should, be put on Kellen Moore, but the RB room is also in a weird spot. Kendre Miller was decent in Week 1 but didn’t even play in Week 2; Travis Etienne has been disappointing in his Saints career, and Alvin Kamara isn’t the RB he used to be.
Etienne will likely be the only RB left next season, so adding another highly talented player to that room could really improve the rushing attack. He’s such a talented RB who can speed right past defenders, break their ankles, or run right through them.
