Former Duke star Jayson Tatum, as you probably know, suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon in this past spring’s playoffs against the New York Knicks.
His recovery is still ongoing and you don’t want to get too far ahead of things, but this video from Celtics Insider is highly optimistic about his progress.
Chris Forsberg says that we’re seeing “something potentially unprecedented because Tatum is back on the court and doing drills. He’s no doctor, but Forsberg thinks Tatum could be back by February
and possibly January.
Longtime Boston reporter Dan Shaughnessy says that no one should get too excited yet and that Boston and Tatum are foolishly raising expectations.
We’d lean more to Shaughnessy here and while Tatum might be pushing hard to return, the Celtics will no doubt hold him back until he’s medically cleared.
Whatever comes out of this, what no one can do now is to question his work ethic. Tatum is clearly busting his ass in rehab.
