Due to a string of injuries Bayern Munich right-back Sacha Boey has found himself back into the mix for Vincent Kompany’s lineup.
The 25-year-old was happy to play a role for the team during its 2-1 win over Borussia Dortmund in Der Klassiker on Saturday.
“We showed in the second half that we were also a solid team. We can defend, we can attack, we can score in important moments. That’s what makes the difference,” Boey told beIN Sports (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “Every time I’m on the pitch, I try
to pay back the coach’s trust. I’m trying to give everything in every minute.”
Boey also addressed how he is doing amid what has been a rocky career at Bayern Munich so far.
“I’m doing very well – mentally, physically, with the team. I feel the coach’s trust and that’s very important to me. I didn’t change anything special in the summer, but simply kept working. My teammates have always supported me too. I feel very comfortable. It’s a great season start for us. That’s how we want to continue,” Boey told Sky Germany’s Kerry Hau.
Boey’s role could change once again when Josip Stanišić, Alphonso Davies, and Hiroki Itō all return from injury, but all he can do is focus on the here and now and cross that bridge when he gets to it.
Bayern Munich got off to a rousing start during its 2-1 win over Borussia Dortmund in the latest edition of Der Klassiker, but it was a nervy ending for the Bavarians.
The home side appeared to wear down and wilt under pressure from Borussia Dortmund as the game went on, but it was a gutty effort to even preserve the win under what many would consider to be a shaky second half. Head coach Vincent Kompany will have to find a way to deal with the weariness of his boys, but for now, let’s talk about how it all played out.
