The Tennessee Titans could not protect quarterback Cam Ward in Week 1. The sophomore top overall selection was under routine pressure in Sunday’s 23-10 loss to the New York Jets. Ward was pressured on nearly 70 percent of his dropbacks, according to Pro Football Focus.
Ward actually did a pretty nice job navigating that pressure. He was only sacked on three occasions, and two of them were decisions to eat the football because nobody was open. Nonetheless, the Titans’ offensive line was putrid.
The
tackle play was especially bad from Dan Moore Jr. and JC Latham. They allowed two pressures apiece. Moore was beaten badly around the edge by Will McDonald IV for the third sack on Ward.
The way-too-early indication is that the Titans will be in the market for at least one new starting offensive tackle next offseason. Possibly with a very early selection in the 2027 NFL Draft. With that in mind, we’ve identified the three offensive tackle prospects the Titans already need to be familiar with.
Trevor Goosby, Texas
Trevor Goosby was excellent at protecting Arch Manning in Texas’ Saturday’s stunning come-from-behind victory over Ohio State. Goosby possesses the prototypical length for an offensive tackle and displays incredible play strength on a snap-by-snap basis. He especially generates so much power as a run blocker, and effectively uses that power and length to keep the edge protected in the passing game.
Jordan Seaton, LSU
Jordan Seaton transferred to LSU this season from Colorado. Through two weeks, he’s handled the step up in competition in flawless fashion. Seaton looks like a natural in Lane Kiffin’s offense. He’s an extremely athletic blocker who thrives in space thanks to high-level foot quickness.
Trevor Lauck, Iowa
Death, taxes, and Iowa producing offensive lineman. Trevor Lauck is the next blocker in the Hawkeyes’ rich history. A mature tackle prospect, he’s technically sound and smart on tape. Think Peter Skoronski, but at tackle. Lauck isn’t an elite athlete, nor does he have elite length, but his skill set is just so technically advanced.
