While not under the lights at Wrigley field Nebraska took on Missouri for their Big Ten/SEC Challenge make up game. They did wear those pinstripe jerseys though.
Nebraska hit .380 on the night, while holding Missouri to just .020. The Huskers also tallied eight blocks on the night. Andi Jackson contributed to six blocks and hit a team high 10 kills on the night while hitting .667. She also had two service aces. Harper Murray also had ten kills, hitting .241 and adding three blocks and an ace. Virginia
Adriano had a season high nine kills on the night and Mania Ogbechie had seven, hitting .778.
Teraya Sigler went out of the match during the second set with an ankle injury. Skyler Pierce did a good job coming in, but hopefully Sigler’s injury isn’t too bad.
The Huskers looked solid in this match and it was a good way to end the non conference season.
Nebraska 3, Missouri 0
Set 1 – Nebraska 25, Missouri 10
The match started out with Nebraska and Missouri trading points. Both teams were passing well and playing great defense. Nebraska then went on a 9-0 run behind the strong serving of Harper Murray. They were not letting much hit the floor, picking it all up with some great passes.
The Huskers quickly got the ball back and an Andi Jackson rocket serve resulted in an overpass and a Mania Ogbechie kill. Nebraska was up 15-7 going into the media time out. The Huskers put their foot on the gas and sailed through the rest of the set. A big block by Jackson ended the set.
The Nebraska block was getting great touches, which made passing easy for the back row for much of the set.
Harper Murray had 6 kills on the set. The Huskers hit .448 while holding the Tigers to a negative hitting percentage.
Set 2- Nebraska 25, Missouri 17
Serving started off the set as Missouri went long with their first serve and Olivia Mauch had an ace to start the Huskers off.
Paige Felder had her first kill of the night off a Bergan Reilly block touch. The next point was a long rally that ended in a big Harper Murray kill.
This set was a very back and forth with the Huskers taking a slight lead, but the Tigers block didn’t let them get too far ahead. Nebraska went into the media timeout up 15-11.
Teraya Sigler exited the game with an ankle injury and Skyler Pierce took her place.
The Huskers got out to a 20-13 lead and didn’t really look back.
This set ended on a Bergan Reilly kill.
Set 3- Nebraska 25, Missouri 14
Even with an amazing sliding save by Keri Leimbach, Missouri took the first point of the match. The Tigers got out to a 3-1 lead, but the Huskers quickly evened it up. It was a close match the first ten points for each team.
This set is where the Huskers picked up their blocks. Nebraska had five on the set.
Nebraska went on a 5-0 run behind the exceptional serving of Andi Jackson.
Nebraska starts Big Ten Season on Friday against Rutgers at Bob Devaney Sports Center. The game will be on Nebraska Public Media or Big+ at 7:00 pm.
