Barcelona midfielder Gavi has undergone a fresh review of his knee injury as the club continue to look for the best way forwards, according to multiple reports.
The current plan is for Gavi to continue with conservative treatment, but Barcelona also went to check on him again next week to see how much progress has been made.
Diario AS say that if the problem doesn’t subside soon then he will “undergo an arthroscopic meniscectomy to treat the tear in the meniscus in his right knee.”
If Gavi does take
that option, then he’s expected to miss around six weeks of action for Barcelona.
Spain boss Luis de la Fuente has already claimed that Gavi is “sad” and “awaiting possible surgery” after speaking with the midfielder.
Yet the report adds there’s still plenty of “internal debate” at Barcelona about the right course of action. Some feel surgery is the best option and that Gavi should go under the knife to fix his current problem.
Others are worried about another operation on a knee that has already undergone ACL surgery, particularly given how players such as Ansu Fati have struggled previously with knee injuries.
