Lewis Hall has become the latest Newcastle United star to attract interest during a turbulent summer at St. James’ Park.
With Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali already gone, Bruno Guimaraes nearing a move to Arsenal, and Eddie Howe having stepped down, Manchester United is now exploring a transfer for the England left-back, trying to pounce on a precarious situation in Tyneside.
Sky Sports reported on Friday morning that Man Utd has begun assessing what a transfer for Hall would involve.

Sky Sports was echoing pundit Danyal Khan’s original report, in which he revealed the Red Devils’ interest in Hall, noting the player has been on Man Utd’s radar for months.
“Man Utd working on what a deal could look like for the 21-year-old,” Khan wrote. “First reported in March that Hall was on Manchester United’s list of left-backs and are big admirers. United are looking for a long-term successor to Luke Shaw but understand the club is still assessing options at left-back and prioritising which position to strengthen first in the last month of the window.”
A couple of hours later, Ben Jacobs confirmed Man Utd has made preliminary checks over Hall’s availability, although he stressed discussions remain at an early stage.
“Manchester United have made checks on Lewis Hall as they assess left-back options… no club-to-club contact yet. Newcastle would still like Hall to sign fresh terms, while the player will seek clarity over his role under new manager Matthias Jaissle,” Jacobs reported.
For now, there is no indication Newcastle is prepared to sell another key player after already sanctioning the departures of Gordon and Tonali, along with the likely sale of Bruno in the next few hours.
That said, Hall’s future has been an under-the-radar storyline for a while, with the Magpies seemingly open to selling him along with Tonali and Tino Livramento, and it’s worth monitoring now more than ever before as the club enters a new era under Jaissle.
