CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Cavaliers grabbed their second win in a row as they defeated the Milwaukee Bucks, who were without Giannis Antetokounmpo for the second half, 118-106.
Let’s take a look at the
four factors from this game. These numbers are from Cleaning the Glass.
Now, let’s dive into some of the stats
- The Cavs shot 42.9% from three. They went 15-34 from beyond the arc. That ties their second-best single-game percentage on the season and is just the fifth time this season they’ve shot over 40% from distance in 15 games.
- The 35 three-point attempts tied their fewest on the season. The only time they took less was in their blowout win over the Detroit Pistons on Oct. 27. Donovan Mitchell mentioned the win in Detroit after Monday’s game as essentially their one complete game.
- Cleveland completed 80% of their shots at the rim (89th percentile). They were 21-27 in the restricted area. That ties their second-best percentage on the season.
- The Cavs also attempted 37% of their looks at the rim (74th percentile). That is also the second most this season behind only their loss to the Toronto Raptors on Halloween.
- Despite getting to the rim, the Cavaliers took just 21 free throws. That’s their fourth-fewest on the season.
- This led to an effective field-goal percentage of 64.7% (95th percentile). That’s the Cavs’ highest effective field-goal percentage in a single game this season.
- Despite the good shooting, the Cavs had a slightly above-average team offensive rating of 116. This is due to how they turned it over, their low free-throw rate, and their lack of offensive rebounds.
- Cleveland grabbed just four offensive rebounds. That ties them for their lowest on the season with their season-opening loss to the New York Knicks.
- Conversely, the Cavs had 41 defensive rebounds. That is their most defensive rebounds in a game this season.
- Evan Mobley had six assists. Half of those went to three-point shooters. It’s good to see him reading the defense from inside the paint and making the kick-out to the open shooters.
- Mobley also turned it over six times. This is part of the growing pains that he’s experiencing.
- Cleveland turned it over 17 times. That translated to coughing it up on 18% of their possessions (26th percentile). That’s their second-worst of the season, behind only the 20% of possessions they turned it over on in Saturday’s win over the Memphis Grizzlies.
- Jarrett Allen played under 25 minutes again. This is the fourth time he’s done so in his last six games. Overall, he’s playing his lowest minutes per game (25.8) since his rookie season when he played just 20 minutes a night.
- The Cavs registered a 103.5 offensive rating in the half-court (72nd percentile). This was their fifth-highest half-court offensive rating on the season.
- The Bucks only had an 86.6 offensive rating in the half-court (23rd percentile). That is the fourth-lowest offensive rating a Cavalier opponent has had this season in the half-court.
- Mitchell went 7-7 in the restricted area. He’s made an effort to avoid driving to the basket in the regular season to preserve his body for the postseason. That clearly wasn’t a consideration on Monday.
- Sam Merrill went 6-9 from three. That ties him for a season-high in threes. The only other time he hit as many was in their win over the Brooklyn Nets on Oct. 24.
