The biggest moves of the Brooklyn Nets’ offseason are probably behind us — or at least it seems that way after Moe Wagner’s signing was officially announced.
Sean Marks added veterans Julius Randle and Wagner. He also added 26-year-old Keon Ellis and brought in a promising rookie class led by Mikel Brown Jr. and Joshua Jefferson. Brooklyn still
has plenty of future flexibility, though whether this is all enough to change the outlook this season is another question.
It feels obvious the roster improved. Jordi Fernandez has coached two All-Stars prior to the Nets trading for Julius Randle: Ben Simmons and D’Angelo Russell. Both were well-removed from those days. Randle is back in New York and the Nets are happy to have him.
“He’s going to be a leader, that’s for sure. We’re bringing a three-time All-Star, a guy who’s been in the playoffs multiple times,” Fernandez said of Randle while on ESPN’s broadcast of the Las Vegas Summer League.
Assuming Michael Porter Jr., is back and no injuries come up before opening night, it’s fair to pencil in a projected starting lineup of Mikel Brown Jr., Egor Dëmin, Porter Jr., Randle, and Day’Ron Sharpe. Saying this softly as things change fast in the NBA.
