DFB brass headed to NYC to lock down Klopp (Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg)
The DFB is looking to expedite the process of sealing a deal for former Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp and will be sending its top brass across the pond to meet with Klopp in New York City (the concrete jungle where dreams are made of — if you didn’t know):
🚨🗽 EXCL | As revealed on Sky, DFB president Bernd Neuendorf and vice-president Hans-Joachim Watzke are planning to travel to New York on Thursday. The plan is for negotiations with Jürgen Klopp and his top agent Marc Kosicke to take place on Friday/Saturday.
Topics on the agenda include contract length, salary, sporting influence, commercial agreements and Klopp’s coaching staff.
The plan for all parties is clear: Klopp should first reach an agreement with the DFB. Only then will his exit from Red Bull be finalised together with Klopp.
Red Bull super boss Oliver Mintzlaff could travel to New York next week, according to the current plan.
⚠️ Klopp as Germany’s new Bundestrainer is only a matter of time. @SkySportDE
Klopp could really make this his project. Everything from player development to coaching development to facilities. If the DFB wants to really go all in on Klopp, it needs to let him run the whole show.
Tuchel = Dance Machine? (England)
Let’s get this out of the way, I am not a good dancer (well, give me like 8 beers and I don’t care if I am not a good dancer), but I think — maybe — I’ve got Thomas Tuchel:
Chelsea to lockdown prospect before Bayer, Juve can pull off steal (Football Insider)
Chelsea is going to attempt to make sure that Jesse Derry does not leave London in favor of Bayern Munich or Juventus:
Chelsea are in advanced talks over a new deal for teenage winger Jesse Derry, sources have told Football Insider.
The Blues are working to tie the 19-year-old down to a long-term Stamford Bridge contract after recent approaches from both Bayern Munich and Juventus in the last few days.
Derry is one of Chelsea’s leading youth talents at the moment, and his progress has alerted some of Europe’s top clubs.
Bayern and Juventus have both tried to snatch him away from Stamford Bridge, and that has prompted the club hierarchy to move to secure his future.
After seeing Jamal Musiala develop into a star, Chelsea likely does not want to take any chances when Bayern Munich likes one of its prospects
NUFC chasing Stiller? (ESPN)
Newcastle United could make a play for VfB Stuttgart midfielder and Germany international Angelo Stiller:
Newcastle United are looking to sign Germany and Stuttgart midfielder Angelo Stiller, says German newspaper Bild. Stiller, 25, has caught the eye for some impressive performances for club and country over the last year and had previously been linked with Manchester United. Stiller reportedly has a €36.5 million release clause in his contract, though Stuttgart are able to pay a €2 million fee to void it if a club is willing to offer more.
Man, you would think that Newcastle would be at least a little wary of VfB Stuttgart-based Germany internationals, eh?
Drăgușin to Fiorentina (Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano)
After what has a been a disastrous spell at Tottenham, defender Radu Drăgușin is headed to Fiorentina on loan:
🚨🟣 Radu Dragusin will travel early next week for medical at Fiorentina from London.
Tottenham receive £16.5m package between loan fee, buy obligation clause and salary covered until June.
THFC accept as Dragusin asked to leave and join Fiorentina.
At one point, Drăgușin was on Bayern Munich’s radar, but his Spurs career did not go as planned
ICYMI: Henderson injured in celebration after Mexico win (Fox Sports)
Well, this is an awful way for Jordan Henderson to get hurt at the World Cup:
Sky Germany is reporting that Henderson broke his arm:
Amid the celebrations following the advance to the World Cup quarterfinals, England’s midfielder Jordan #Henderson appears to have seriously injured his arm. 🏥
The 36-year-old jumped over an advertising barrier after the 3-2 win over host nation Mexico and took a nasty fall in the process. “He injured his wrist. He’s currently in the hospital. It’s a pretty serious injury,” said coach Thomas Tuchel. 😮💨
ℹ️ On footage from inside the stadium in Mexico City, Henderson was seen on a stretcher, being given oxygen, with his teammates shielding him. At first, he had still been celebrating with the players and fans in the stands, but the accident apparently happened on the way back onto the pitch.
What a wild turn of events and swing of emotion from Henderson.
