There’s no shortage of holes on this Red Sox team. The offense needs help, the bullpen drops off dramatically beyond the top four guys, and despite excellent pitching from the rotation all year, a combination of injuries and young guys reaching career highs in innings pitched is likely going to create problems down the stretch.
With all that in mind, what part of the diamond do you want to see the Red Sox try and improve the most? Do you target catcher because there’s just no real upside there with
Carlos Narvaez and Connor Wong? Do you approve of the messaging coming from national guys like Buster Olney who seem to think the Red Sox want to solidify shortstop and move beyond the Trevor Story / Marcelo Mayer dynamic?
How about left field? Do you keep trotting Jarren Duran out there until Roman Anthony is healthy, or do you try and find a new stopgap who will post an OPS above .600?
You could even just aim for a bunch of seventh inning relievers to lengthen the bullpen and take pressure off the starters as we hit a part of the calendar with limited off days. Somehow this is both a blank and messy canvas all at once.
Talk about your plans and wishes for the upcoming trade deadline here, and as always, be good to one another!
