Bayern Munich manager Vincent Kompany has seen better performances from his team this season than the one he witness during the squad’s 2-0 victory.
“Despite the red card in the second half, we actually played very well. For me, it was definitely an improvement after the break. The team reacted strongly again. It wasn’t quite enough in the first half, but it was significantly better afterward. Opponents throw everything they have into the first half. They’re fresh and have a lot of energy. That’s
not just the case with Bayern – I’ve also played for other clubs that were dominant,” Kompany said (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “Often, a game only really clicks in the second half. The score isn’t always decided before halftime. Nevertheless, you have to say: our first half could have been better; we weren’t at our best. But you also have to remember that we’re playing every two or three days at the moment. Considering that, we’re doing exceptionally well overall and winning our games. Today, we kept a clean sheet – you have to take that balance into account as well.”
Kompany always finds a way to extract the positives from a performance. Even on a day where he had work hard to find a few, the coach came through.
